HP iPAQ 210 / 211 Review

•HP iPAQ 210 and 211 are the same unit, just with different model number for different geographical regions! The iPAQ 210 has a little brother, the iPAQ 110 that you might want to have a look at. It's a little bit cheaper but still a very good quality device.

Screen

The screen of of HP 211 a 4" Touchscreen VGA Color Display is really good, graphic details are visible even in bright daylight. Like almost every PDA display, it does not work very well in direct sunlight. The touch screen requires a quite strong push but as you get used to it that shouldn't be a problem.

Audio

The built in speakers does not produce top quality audio. One can of course jack in the headphones and get a whole different sound experience.

Browser Navigation and Scrolling

The Internet Explorer navigation, like scrolling etc, is acceptable but not great. A firm pressure is also required here and can be misinterpreted by the device as repeated taps. Suggestion to make surfing easier is to install Opera.

Inking

Inking works great with the powerful Marvell processor.

Performance

The Marvell PXA310 CPU running at 624MHz runs as expected, like a dream. The ability to add 32GB of SDHC memory, ensures that this is a device that will be useful for a long time to come and not useless after 6 months. The RAM amount is 128MB.

Button Layout

With four re programmable buttons and a D-pad it should meet most of peoples needs, the layout is good and it passes the test. The D-pad is a little smaller since the top has been removed, a minus for that though.

Summary

All in all this is a very powerful device with some great features. The design and the size of this PDA, in that this isn't the smallest device on the market, really makes it easy to use .
